
CULTURAL STUDIES
Our cultural studies program is a 45 minute lecture with a Q & A session designed to “Provide cultural education and training in African ways of life to complement any knowledge or skills available to students at the end of their studies, through the mediums of language and related arts and practices in traditional society.” It focuses on African history, geography, customs, norms and their way of life.
FINE AND VISUAL ARTS
Our Fine and Visual Arts Program motivates students to express themselves visually and creatively through artistic thought and action. They build a foundation in art knowledge and skills with concentration in ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, through the elements of art and principles of design
Our Fine/visual arts classes taught by highly skilled professionals; all on faculty at an accredited university, hold a PHD in an area of Fine Art and or life experience equivalent who take time off to travel America to facilitate these programs. It is designed to give students an in-depth knowledge and lifelong learning of indigenous cultures of Africans. Through individual and group projects they develop skills and understanding of African arts its cultural importance to the people.
Students will develop a functional knowledge of this art form based on technique, history, vocabulary. Students receive personalized instruction in 3 sections divided by skill level. Dancers train and experience a rigorous, thoughtful, curriculum that includes;
- African indigenous, contemporary and modern dance technique
- Rhythm and live drumming
- Language and the cultural significance of the dance to the particular people in Africa peculiar to
- Body conditioning repertory
At the end of the workshop all students who participated get the opportunity to perform in a live production.
PERFORMING ARTS
DRUMMING AND DANCE

MUSIC
Students learn to sing, play instruments, move to music and create world music using African indigenous musical instruments and western instruments that enables them to acquire musical skills and knowledge that can be developed in no other way. Learning to read, notate play indigenous music will give them a skill with which to explore music independently and socially baring in mind the fundamental music process in which humans engage; performing, creating and responding to music. Students get the opportunity to participate in a diverse, global society understand historical and cultural heritage of the diverse African cultures by listening to, analyzing and evaluating music. All students who participate in this program get the opportunity to perform solo pieces or as part of an ensemble performing different types of world music and African symphony orchestra that fuses African indigenous musical instruments with western instruments to perform classical music.
DRAMMA
The drama program coupled with Sankofa Theatre is to give students knowledge and understanding of African history and real life events who in turn communicate this to the community during productions. It is designed through theatre activities, games, storytelling to help students tap into and discover their own creativity whiles increasing the knowledge on African studies. At the end of the workshop children perform in a live production demonstrating their skill in poetry recitals, staged play, and other theatrical performances
